Other Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Recruitment, 2025

Nationality:

A candidate must be either:

(a) a Citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) Tibetan refugee in India before January 1, 1962, seeking permanent residence.

(e) Person of Indian origin moving from certain countries like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African nations of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of settling permanently in India.

Age Limit: Minimum 21 Years and Maximum 32 Years.

Age Relaxation:

SC / ST: 5 Years. Individuals belonging to OBC (Other Backward Classes), Defence Services Personnel, or those who were disabled in operations during hostilities: 3 Years. Ex-Servicemen: 5 Years. ECOs/SSCOs: 5 Years. PwBD: 10 Years.

General / OBC Candidates: Rs. 200/- Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability: Exempted (No need to Pay the Application Fee).

Payment Mode:You can pay the application fees by:

Visiting any State Bank of India branch and remitting the money, or Using Visa, MasterCard, RuPay Credit/Debit Card, UPI Payment, or Internet Banking from any bank. If you opt for the "Pay by Cash" method, make sure to print the system-generated Pay-in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the SBI Branch counter on the next working day only.

For the post of Geologist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India. Candidate should have a Master's degree from a recognized university in one of the following fields:

For the Geophysicist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W.B. To apply for this post candidates should have a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from a recognized University. Acceptable fields for the M.Sc. degree include:

Physics Applied Physics Geophysics Integrated M.Sc. in Exploration Geophysics M.Sc. in Applied Geophysics M.Sc. in Marine Geophysics M.Sc. (Tech.) in Applied Geophysics

For the post Chemist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical) under C.G.W.B. To apply for this post candidate should have a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from a recognized University. Acceptable fields for the M.Sc. degree include:

Selection Process of UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2025

Preliminary Examination:

The Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination is conducted in Objective Type Papers. This stage aims to select candidates for Stage II. The examination is worth 400 marks.

Mains Examinations:

The Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination consists of Conventional Type Papers. Mains will be conducted for a total of 600 marks.

Personality Test/Interview:

The Combined Geo-Scientist Interview carries a weightage of 200 marks.
